Death assuredly is a transition. It is a transition from an animated state in this reality to something else. For many, that not knowing is the greatest horror. Death is a step each individual must take on his or her own. You and I will, one day, inevitably make the journey. If you can let go of "me" you will make that transition simpler and easier - life will be fulfilled. Viewed: 35 Times.

The mercifulness of our text is the product of the new nature implanted by the Holy Spirit in the child of God. It is called into exercise when we contemplate the wondrous grace, pity, and longsuffering of God toward such unworthy wretches as ourselves. The more I ponder God’s sovereign mercy to me, the more I shall think of the unquenchable fire from which I have been delivered through the sufferings of the Lord Jesus. Viewed: 36 Times.

“Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you” (Matthew 5:10-12). Viewed: 37 Times.

The closing of the Canon did not stop any tongues. Rather, the Protestant Reformation began the greatest expansion of Christianity the world had ever seen. Tongues began to flicker for God all over the world, and they still are. Indeed, tongues did not cease with the closing of the Canon, but rather they began in earnest as the Bible was translated into every known tongue and exported to every known people. Viewed: 38 Times.

Our meditations upon the Beatitudes would not be complete unless they turned our thoughts to the Person of our blessed Lord. As we have endeavored to show, they describe the character and conduct of a Christian. Since Christian character is formed in us by the experiential process of our being conformed to the image of God’s Son, then we must turn our gaze upon Him who is the perfect pattern. Catherine wrote many letters to the Pope, pleading the case of Florence. It was always as if she were writing to an old friend, very personally, very lovingly, or as to a father, calling him "Babbo Mio," (my daddy), never intimidated yet respectful of his position. And he, on his part, answered in kind, to a daughter. Viewed: 38 Times.

There are no Christian spectators. This is why spectator worship is such a crime against the Spirit! Worship that treats the congregation as spectators trains Christians to be blind followers. The congregation must participate in worship, not just watch. Viewed: 39 Times.
